Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the editorial, `Preparing for earthquakes' (April 8). It is a matter of serious concern that over 60 per cent of the Indian landmass is liable to be affected by earthquakes of various intensities. More worrying is that the majority of the buildings in our major cities are not quake-resistant.
Mohd. Khalid,
Sir, The top priority should be to issue guidelines on the various dos and don'ts with respect to the construction of quake-resistant buildings/houses.
Installing early warning systems at vulnerable places is also required.
S. Chandrasekhararao,
