Letters to the Editor
Sir, April 7, 2005 will remain in memory for all the good reasons. The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad "caravan of peace" will be remembered not just by the bus passengers but also by all who helped make it a success and by millions of peace-loving Indians and Pakistanis. Those who criticised the move proved that they want the divide to continue.
Alekhya Mandadi,
Sir, Hats off to the leaders of India and Pakistan, the passengers and the security guards whose efforts ensured the success of the bus service. As stated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan, (April 8), "the gun has failed." The determination of the people on both sides of the Line of Control has ensured this.
K. Hari Krishnan,
Sir, Even if a few families on either side of the border are re-united, the purpose of the bus service will have been served. However, a constant vigil on both sides is a must.
Pankaj Dwivedi,
Sir, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pervez Musharraf ultimately deserve praise for ensuring that the bus service went ahead as scheduled despite the militants' threats.
M.K. Mohamed Abdulla,
