BANGALORE, APRIL 10. The hectic schedule of the Chinese Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao, in Bangalore included a trip to the Indian Space Research Organisation's Satellite Centre and Huawei Technologies, a 100 per cent subsidiary of the Chinese global telecom giant of the same name. Mr. Wen was taken around the ISRO facility by its chairman, G. Madhavan Nair, who briefed the Chinese Premier on the various activities of the Indian space programme. India has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese National Space Agency on cooperation in the application of space for peaceful uses. A team from China earlier visited India and an Indian team visited China to share the experiences of both the countries and to identify areas of cooperation in the application of space technology. In a press release, ISRO said the Chinese Premier's visit is expected to provide further impetus to explore more areas of cooperation in space applications. Earlier, Mr. Wen spent about 30 minutes at Huawei facility, the company's largest overseas Research and Development centre engaged in developing high-end telecom and data software solutions for the parent company. Soon after Mr. Wen's closed-door visit, a Huawei spokesman said the Chinese Premier spoke to a few employees and was told about the company's activities here by Huawei Technologies global president, Ren Zhengei. Later, Mr. Ren told presspersons that the company had long-term investment plans and was poised to enlarge its investment in the future.
