HYDERABAD, APRIL 10. A five-member Telugu Desam Party delegation faced embarrassing moments at Jubilee Hall on Sunday when they were denied entry on the ground that only one technical expert could attend the open debate on irrigation projects. Disregarding the Government direction, the TDP delegation comprising MLAs -- N. Janardhan Reddy, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and S. Maruthi - the former Minister, K. Srihari, and retired engineer, Prabhakar made a vain bid to gain entry. They picked an argument with officials. Mr. Srihari produced a letter written by the Chief Minister to political parties stating that more people would be allowed for the debate. The Principal Secretary, Irrigation, C. V. S. K. Sarma, told the leaders that rules could not be bent and urged them to cooperate. The TDP leaders then tried to contact the Major Irrigation Minister, Ponnala Lakshmaiah. Finally, only Mr. Maruthi was asked to participate in the discussion. The TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu complimented Mr. Maruthi for effectively presenting the party's viewpoint.
