The byelection was necessitated following the murder of Ravindra, the TDP legislator, recently, and expectedly, Ms.Bhanumati, who was the party's nominee in the last elections, is in the race. There is also pressure from Suri's followers on the family to contest the election. Ms.Bhanumati was accompanied by S. Gangadhar, former MP, A.Venkatrami Reddy, DCC president and MP, N.Raghuveera Reddy, Minister for Agriculture, and B.Narayana Reddy, MLA, and Patil Venugopal Reddy, former MLA, and met the Chief Minister at his camp office here on Sunday and pleaded her case. Dr. Reddy is said to have reiterated the party's decision to field a `fresh candidate with no factional background.'
