HYDERABAD, APRIL 10. The CPI (Maoist) secretary, Ramakrishna, has denied having issued a statement on March 31 and described it as "creation of the police." Significantly, he made an appeal to the cadre not to target village level political party workers and lower level policemen and spare destruction of RTC buses. Referring to the peace talks, the Maoist leader charged the Government with "adopting double standard." In a statement dated April 8 and sent to the Press on Sunday, Ramakrishna expressed surprise at his call to dalams not to use guns but traditional weapons in killing informers and leaving no evidence.
`Plot to kill cadre'
He claimed that similar efforts were made during the TDP regime to "cause confusion in revolutionary circles." The party, he said, was concerned about the `diabolic murder plot' behind the statement in eliminating missing party cadre by the police. The police had set the stage for "heinous and brutal killings of the missing revolutionaries." The Government, Ramakrishna alleged, had already prepared a plan to do away with revolutionaries in the guise of missing persons. Since it was afraid of the public and democrats' reaction the statement had been issued in his name. As part of the plan, the statement said, the police were trying to do away with Madhu, technician team member, who was arrested in Nellore on March 10, and Vijay, member of State political teachers' team, and trying to nab some more Maoists.
