CHENNAI, APRIL 10. `Tamil Thirai' TV (TTV), the new channel, will start its telecasts on April 22. The channel, controlled and managed by Tamil film industry personnel, will beam programmes round-the-clock from day one, said the channel chief and film director, Bharathiraja. The trial run would start from April 15. Addressing the media about the new channel, Mr. Bharathiraja said that Tamil speaking people around the world would be able to watch the programmes. "Our channel will be seen not only in India but also in Asia, Europe, Australia and the Gulf countries." `Tamil Thirai TV' will be a free-to-air channel and the downlink frequency will be 4656 MHz and the symbol rate is 12.121Ms/s. The polarisation is vertical and FEC is 3/4. The channel will beam from Bangkok with Thaicom-3 satellite. He said the channel would showcase Tamil art and culture in an innovative way to stand out from other channels. "Due to certain constraints we were not able to launch our channel sooner. I can say that the channel would provide entertainment and enjoyment to the viewers as well as the connoisseurs of art and culture." R.K. Selvamani and Kovai Thambi also spoke about the channel. Trailers of a few programmes shown to the media included Abavanan's "Appuchi", a game show and a dance programme by Sukanya.
