NEW DELHI, APRIL 10. Justice S. N. Phukan, who probed the Tehelka expose into defence deals, has said he "did not find anything" against the former Defence Minister, George Fernandes. "I only gave a report containing 600 pages regarding past defence transactions. So far as I remember, I did not find anything against George," Justice Phukan told NDTV 24X7. "I have only gone through the files... I did not see anything."
"Draft was changed"
The Union Law Minister, H. R. Bhardwaj, said the Defence Ministry changed the draft affidavit prepared by his Ministry before submission to the Supreme Court. "We had drafted our affidavit and sent it to the Defence Ministry through the Attorney-General. There it was changed before it was filed in the Court,'' he told NDTV. "The Attorney-General was very displeased and has written to the Defence Secretary expressing his displeasure." Mr. Bhardwaj said a plan had been formulated that if the Defence Ministry did not file a supplementary affidavit in the case, the Law Ministry would itself file it. PTI
