Mainly clear sky forecast

NEW DELHI, APRIL 10. The weatherman has forecast a mainly clear sky with possibility of strong surface winds in the Capital on Monday.

The maximum and the minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Sunday were 29.7 degrees Celsius and 17.6 degrees Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 16.3 degrees Celsius.

While the maximum and the minimum relative humidity at Safdarjung was 29 per cent and 10 per cent respectively, Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 47 per cent and a minimum of 19 per cent.

Alleged chain snatchers held

NEW DELHI APRIL 10. Four alleged chain snatchers and three alleged receivers of stolen property were arrested at Rohini in North-West Delhi on Saturday. The police recovered smack and stolen jewellery from them.

According to the police, the chain snatchers have been identified as Deep Chand, Manoj, Chander Shekhar and Anil, while the receivers of stolen property are Anil Galhot, Vinod Goel and Ram Naresh. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they were involved in at least eight snatching cases. Further probe into their other suspected involvements is on.

Alleged auto lifter nabbed

NEW DELHI APRIL 10. An alleged auto-lifter was arrested at Jehangirpuri in North-West Delhi on Saturday. The police recovered a stolen Maruti 800 from him.

During a routine check, the police stopped a Maruti car on G.T. Karnal Road and asked the driver to show the documents. He could not produce any papers at which the police questioned him and came to know that he had stolen the vehicle from Defence Colony in South Delhi earlier this month.

The accused was identified as Manoj, who turned out to be the brother of an auto-lifter, Mahesh, who was recently arrested by the Crime Branch.
