NEW DELHI, APRIL 10. A 45-year-old woman, who was earlier involved in 42 Excise Act cases, was arrested at Dabri in South-West Delhi this past Friday. An illegal liquor consignment was allegedly recovered from her. The Special Staff of the South-West Delhi police received a tip-off that a bootlegger, Kamla Sansi, had received a huge consignment of illicit liquor transported in a Tata 407 bearing a Haryana number. Further investigations revealed that the consignment had been stocked in a rented flat at Brahmpuri. A police team comprising Sub-Inspectors Raj Kumar and Ravinder Tyagi raided the place and arrested Kamla Sansi while she along with her husband, Rajinder, was uploading a liquor consignment on a scooter. However, Rajinder managed to give them the slip. During interrogation, Kamla allegedly disclosed that she was earlier involved in 42 cases while her husband was involved in 30 cases. Kamla, who studied till Class VIII in Rajasthan, married Rajinder in 1975. The police said Rajinder's father, Dharam Singh, also used to sell illicit liquor at Raghubir Nagar and was involved in 40 Excise Act cases. His wife, Shanti Devi, was also involved in the business. The police said Rajinder's brothers -- Summi, Sripal, and Shashi -- were also into bootlegging. The police said the accused supplied the liquor, meant for sale only in Haryana and Chandigarh, to their clients across the Capital. Efforts are on to arrest Rajinder.
