HYDERABAD, APRIL 10. A suspected robber barged into a house and attacked two women with a stick resulting in serious injuries to them at Chikkadpally on Sunday evening. The ransacked house and marks on almirah suggested that the offender tried in vain to take away property. The injured women -- Hasina Begum (27) and Shamim Begum (33) were rushed to a private hospital where their condition was said to be stable. Hasina, a chicken shop owner's wife, was doing up her house, located on the third floor of Azamabad mosque near RTC crossroads, when the offender entered inside around 6.30 p.m.
Police version
The police suspect that the offender attacked Hasina as soon as he entered the house even as her three-year-old daughter, Tabassum, watched in horror. "The girl said a person came inside while she was watching TV and attacked her mother," the Chikkadpally Inspector, V.N.V. Satyanarayana, said. The police believe that he attacked Shamim, who lives in the adjoining portion, when she rushed to rescue Hasina. The CLUES team, fingerprints experts and dog squads were called in. An unidentified person broke into the two houses in March 2004 and took away Rs. 70,000 in cash and two tolas gold. The case remained undetected and the police did not rule out the possibility of the same person behind Sunday's offence.
