Right step

Sir, — The Congress high command has taken the right step in expelling the former Kerala Congress president, K. Muraleedharan, from the party for six years.

The same stand should be adopted against his father K. Karunakaran also because it is with his active support that Mr. Muraleedharan created the unpleasant situation in the Pradesh Congress.

K. Govinda Bhat,
Edathala, Kerala

Sir, — The Congress has taken a decision that was long overdue. In fact, it was losing its credibility by postponing the decision and allowing Mr. Muraleedharan to defy the leadership.

B.C. Unnikrishnan Nair,
Thiruvananthapuram

Sir, — It is just as well that after prolonged procrastination and pusillanimity the Congress high command finally expelled Mr. Muraleedharan. He and his octogenarian father have been holding the party to ransom for quite some time.

The Congress' inaction in the past had emboldened them to raise the banner of rebellion every now and then. Like the proverbial bull in a china shop, the father-son duo ran amok sowing the seeds of indiscipline and disintegration in the party.

M.V. Ravindran,
Ahmedabad
