HYDERABAD, APRIL 11. The 33rd batch of 174 cadets of the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) passed out on Monday. The batch had 18 post-graduates and 112 graduates apart from four diploma holders in computer sciences. The constables presented an impressive passing-out parade (POP) commanded by the cadet, Manish Kumar, with the Union Minister of State for Railways, R. Velu, taking the salute. He appreciated the cadets for having proved their worth during bandobust at the time of Ganesh immersion in Hyderabad and maintaining law and order apart from their training.
Special grant
The Union Minister announced a special one-time grant of Rs. 5 lakhs for the RPF Training Centre. He was told that the administrative block at the centre was in bad shape, he said. The DGP, RPF, A.K. Suri, said the RPSF, formally constituted 53 years ago, had proved its worth in performing other duties too and was turning its attention to more human obligations in society by working on rehabilitation of urchins at railway stations and cracking cases of abduction of children from trains. Mr. Manish Kumar was adjudged the best all-rounder, K.M.K. Prakesh as best in outdoor and Manohar Miher as best in indoor activities. The Chief Security Commissioner, South Central Railway, B. Kamal Kumar welcomed the gathering, while the Inspector-General, RPF, P.K. Mehra proposed the vote of thanks. Among senior officials present included SCR General Manager, D.N. Mathur, and the Additional DG, Government Railway Police, A. Sivasankar.
