Man killed in accident; MLA among three hurt

BANGALORE, APRIL 11. A man was killed and three persons, including the Congress MLA and former Minister A.B. Patil, were injured in a road accident on Bellary Road in the early hours of Monday.

The police said that around 12.30 a.m., the car in which Mr. Patil was travelling along with the Deputy Superintendent of Police (CoD), Basavaraj Singai, collided with another car near Baptist Hospital.

The police said Mr. Sangai, who was driving the car, Mr. Patil, Rajesh (26) of Sultanpalya and Amzad Pasha of Nagenahalli, who were travelling in the vehicle, were injured and were rushed to hospital.

Rajesh, a driver who worked for a travel agency, died. Mr. Patil's car was coming into the city from the Yelahanka area, the police said.

Mr. Patil, MLA from Sankeshwar in Belgaum district, suffered injuries on his head and limbs. He is out of danger, the police said. Mr. Singai and Pasha, driver of the other car, suffered fractures.

The R.T. Nagar traffic police have seized the cars and registered a case.
