BANGALORE, APRIL 11. A hotelier, who had been to his father-in-law's house to celebrate Ugadi, returned to find that burglars had broken into his house and taken away gold ornaments worth Rs. 2.8 lakhs. The police said Chikkathimme Gowda had been to his father-in-law's house in the Srinagar area to celebrate the festival on Saturday along with his wife and children. When they returned on Sunday night, they found that six chains, four necklaces, eight pairs of ear studs, two rings and other ornaments had been taken away from his house on 8th Cross, KSRTC Layout, in J.P. Nagar police station limits. The police suspect the theft took place on Sunday. On a complaint from Mr. Gowda, the J.P. Nagar police have registered a case.
Laptop stolen
A thief stole a laptop worth Rs. 65,000 from Mehaboob Abrar's house in Murugeshpalya in the early hours of Monday. The police said Abrar had kept his laptop near a window and gone to sleep at 3 a.m. When he woke up at 6 a.m., he found that the laptop had been stolen. The Airport police have registered a case.
Burglary attempt
Burglars broke into the Union Bank of India's ATM counter on Kanakapura Road, off the Ring Road junction, on Saturday night and attempted to steal cash.
