Rupee bounces back

MUMBAI, APRIL 11. The rupee today bounced back smartly against the U.S. currency due to bunched up weekend dollar supplies amidst renewed dollar weakness overseas.

In a generally quiet and range-bound trade at the interbank foreign exchange (forex) market, the rupee closed at 43.71/72 a dollar, a sharp six paise gain from last Friday's finish of 43.76/77.

It opened distinctly firm at 43.73/74 per dollar, reflecting the dollar's renewed weakness against major rivals, mainly the euro. The rupee declined by three paise last Friday. — PTI
