CHENNAI, APRIL 11. Armaan Ebrahim qualified on pole clocking a time of 49.7sec, 1.3 secs ahead of his second-placed compatriot in the Shifter RMI Rotax category of the Asian Zone Karting championship at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday. Armaan finished third despite having to start from the last row on the grid. Armaan, earlier, had to pull out of the heats because of a punctured tyre. Rayomand Banajee finished sixth in the same category. More than 75 participants across Asia took part. In the Rotax senior class, Aditya Akkineni qualified 11th and moved up five places to finish the race at 6th place. Aditya Patel suffered a small collision with another kart and had to retire early in the senior class. Akhil Khusklani finished fourth in the heat and fifth in the pre-final of the junior class but had to retire in the final when his kart suffered an engine problem. Parth Ghorpade qualified 8th and finished sixth in the cadet class. It is the first time that the Indians are participating as `Team India' in the championship, according to a press release.
