UDUPI, APRIL 11. The Vice-President of the national unit of the Janata Dal (Secular), Narasimhappa, on Sunday said the Janata Dal (S) had a different set of economic policies compared to either the BJP or the Congress. Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Narasimhappa said the BJP and the Congress were following more or less the same economic policies that of furthering globalisation and liberalisation. The Janata Dal (S), on the other hand, believed that economic policies should result in the uplift of the common man. It did not support reckless foreign direct investment. He said it was under exceptional circumstances that the Janata Dal (S) had agreed to the formation of a coalition Government with the Congress in the State. Mr. Narasimhappa said there was no dissidence in the Udupi district unit of Janata Dal (S). The party leadership had reorganised the party unit in the district. Some leaders had resigned from their posts, but they had made it clear that they would work as ordinary workers of the party, he said.
