KOCHI, APRIL 11. A certificate attestation centre set up by NORKA-ROOTS for job aspirants was opened here today. This is the third such centre to be launched in the State, after Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, said that the Government was exploring the possibility of attesting certificates other than educational certificates at the regional centres.
Attestation must
The United Arab Emirates had been insisting on attested educational certificates from jobseekers. More Arab nations were also planning to make attested educational certificates mandatory for providing employment opportunities, M.M. Hassan, NORKA chairman, told mediapersons. "The certificates are to be attested by the Education Department of the State and also the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. The application for attestation can be registered online by logging on to www.norkaroots.net," he said. Each week, 750 applications would be processed at each regional centre and the date and time at which the applicant needed to come to the centre would be available online at the time of registration itself. The applicants would have to pay a registration fee of Rs. 50 and attestation fee of Rs. 1,500. Attested certificates would be couriered to the applicant and normally, it would take at least two weeks to get the certificates attested, Mr. Hassan said. The NORKA secretary, Jiji Thomson, welcomed the gathering. Sebastian Paul, MP; C.K. Menon, ROOTS director; K.V. Thomas, MLA, and V.T. Nandakumar, Chief Executive Officer, attended.
