THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 11. The Palakkad-based All-Kerala Bus Operators Organisation has put forward a seven-point charter of demands, the conceding of which is, according to it, absolutely essential for the survival of the private transport industry in the event of another increase in the price of diesel. In a statement here today the organisation wanted the private transport industry to be declared a utility service and diesel subsidy given to it. If that was not possible, sales tax on diesel should be withdrawn. Concessional travel should be allowed only to students up to the tenth class and norms and rates for giving concession to the students of other classes should be changed. The organisation wanted the assurance regarding permit restrictions given by the Government during the last private bus strike to be implemented. It wanted Kerala to emulate the example of other States in this regard.
