MADURAI, APRIL 11. Members of the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association staged a demonstration in front of the Old Ramanad Collectorate here today, seeking the revocation of Essential Service Maintenance Act and the Tamil Nadu Essential Service Maintenance Act. Led by the district president, Suba Mari, the members sought the merger of 50 per cent of dearness allowance with basic pay, payment of one month's pay as bonus and leave encashment facility and urged the Government to immediately reinstate 10,000 road workers. The members later took out a rally in support of their demands from the Old Ramnad Collectorate to the Government Rajaji Hospital. The State secretary, A. Rajapathar, and the district secretaries, A. Selvam and Shankaralingam, participated.
