Missing child's body found on tracks

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, APRIL 11. The body of a two-year-old girl who was travelling along with her mother and other relatives from Chennai to Delhi by the Grant Trunk Express on Saturday was found under mysterious circumstances along the railway track between Agra and Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh the next morning.

The girl, Vaibhavi, her mother, C. Vaidya, and other relatives were travelling in the AC coach of the G.T. Express. As the train crossed Saiyan on Saturday night, one of them noticed that Vaibhavi was missing and woke up the others. They searched for her in other compartments but did not find her, following which the railway officials were informed. The train was subsequently stopped for nearly 20 minutes and a thorough search was conducted, but in vain.

After her relatives reached Delhi, they were informed that the body of a young girl was found along the railway track between Agra and Jhansi on Sunday morning. The Saiyan police registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem. Vaibhavi's family lives at Uttam Nagar in West Delhi.
