Lightning kills two

GUNTUR, APRIL 11. All mandals in Guntur district experienced rain on Monday evening leaving two dead in Gurazala mandal and soaking chilli spread on farmlands for drying.

At Ambapuram in Gurazala mandal the former TDP sarpanch Alawala Narsi Reddy, 50, and his friend Duggirala Radha Krishna Reddy, 45, were hit by lightening at around 4.30 p.m. while they were in their fields. They died on the spot.

There was rain for half-an-hour in all the mandals of Palnadu area and Guntur city. Loss for chilli due to rain was maximum in Rentachintala and Tallacheruvu in Atchmepet mandal, where the crop harvested a couple of days ago.
