A steady rise

HYDERABAD,
APRIL 11.
B.V. Raghavulu (50), who was elected polit bureau member of the CPI(M) on Monday, has made it to the top from a student leader.
He was the State president of the Students Federation of India (SFI) while doing research in economics in Andhra University at Visakhapatnam.
A native of Prakasam district, Mr. Raghavulu was made Visakhapatnam district secretary of the party in 1983, State Secretariat member in 1988, State general secretary of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) in 1994 and the Central Committee member of the CPI(M) in 1995.
He was first elected State secretary of the CPI(M) in 1997 and re-elected to the post in 2001 and for the third consecutive term in January this year.
