KOLKATA, APRIL 12. One rupee and not a paise more from each person willing to donate - this is how Biman Bose, Chairman of the ruling Left Front in West Bengal, intends to collect funds to meet litigation costs for appealing to the Supreme Court against a recent order of the Calcutta High Court sentencing him to three days of simple imprisonment for commenting unfavourably against the judiciary. Mr. Bose said here today that his lawyer would be moving the apex court on his behalf against the High Court order soon. He would be going to the public from April 15 to collect funds to meet his legal expenses, for, he did not wish to burden his party [the Communist Party of India (Marxist)] with the costs. He would be doing so with the permission of his party, he added. Referring to the High Court sentence, Mr. Bose said that he had not said anything derogatory to the judiciary. What had been attributed to him was not what he had actually said, he added.
