This Day That Age
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, former Union Law Minister, said in Bombay on April 11 that he and his wife had decided to embrace Buddhism on the occasion of the 2500th anniversary celebrations of the Buddhist era. Dr. Ambedkar has already communicated this decision in a letter to the Secretary of the Mahabodhi Society, Saranath, in Uttar Pradesh where Buddha first preached. However, Dr. Ambedkar said he was not sure whether the ceremony would take place in Saranath or in Bombay. "Some friends have been pressing me to hold the ceremony in Bombay. I am still undecided on this point."
