HYDERABAD, APRIL 12. Undergraduate and post-graduate students of the prestigious International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) at Gachibowli here have been successful in finding outstanding placements this year. The batch of 156 students have received more than 200 offers, including those from multinational companies. These students include 92 from B. Tech (computer sciences and electronics), 27 from M. Tech (CSE), eight from MS computer sciences, 21 from M.Tech VLSI and embedded systems and eight others from M. Tech computer-aided structural engineering. Top companies like Adaptec, Adobe, Computer Associates, Connexent, Honeywell, IBM, Infosys Technologies Limited, Microsoft (India Development Center), Novell, Oracle, Portal Player, SEEC, Tata Consultancy services, Triology, Verizon, Virutsa and Wipro technologies made a beeline to recruit them. Nine students from the B. Tech (CSE) stream have been selected by leading companies with an offer of an annual pay packet of Rs. 7.85 lakhs each. The average annual salary of the selected candidates is around Rs. 3.40 lakhs. This information was revealed at an interaction session that the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had with students of IIIT's class of 2005 who secured placements with top-notch companies here today.
YSR confident
The Chief Minister exuded confidence that Andhra Pradesh would command 30 per cent share in the Information Technology sector in the coming few months. He said the Government was working towards giving impetus to the IT industry and hoped that the students who had passed out of the premier IT institute would bring laurels to the State. He reminded the students not to forget the institute, which had shown them the path of success. "Do remember Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh and try to do your bit to encourage IT," he remarked. He enquired from the IIIT Director, Rajeev Sangal, about the success rate of the students who had passed out of the institution.
