Three held for sending obscene message

SALEM,
APRIL 12.
The police arrested three students of a private engineering college at Pondicherry for sending obscene SMS messages to a girl student of a medical college here on Monday.
The police said Siva alias Siva Chakravarthy (20) of Thandavarayarpuram, Attur, Prabhu alias Ponnilam Goutham (20) of Pottal in Kaniyakumari and Vinod (22), Thuraiyur, Tiruchi, harassed the girl, sending obscene messages. They also used foul language while calling her over the mobile phone.
Based on a complaint from her father, the City Police Commissioner, Abashkumar, formed a special party. On Monday, the girl received similar messages. She alerted the team, which arrested the three on the Omalur Road. Cases under Sections 294 (b), 509 and 506 (ii) of the IPC were registered.
