ALLAHABAD, APRIL 12 . The Allahabad High Court today directed the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission that it may fill up 173 out of 174 reserved posts along with another 174 under the general category with candidates selected in the PCS (J) examination, 2003. A Division Bench comprising justice S Harkauli and justice G P Srivastava also asked the UPPSC and the Allahabad High Court to file their counter-affidavits within three weeks. The order was passed on a writ petition filed by Ashutosh Tripathi and 5 others, who had alleged malpractices during the PCS(J) examinations, 2003, and had challenged the scaling and roster systems adopted during the tests. The court, while citing a Supreme Court order that held that reservation in appointments should not exceed 50 per cent, asked the UPPSC to appoint 173 out of 174 candidates in the reserved category and another 174 in general category. While passing the interim order, the court remarked ``we are not inclined to grant any stay of interview process. However, it is obvious that after interview and declaration of result, appointment by state government takes considerable time and therefore we do not expect any appointment to be made before the date fixed in this case -- May 12, 2005''. -- PTI
