By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY APRIL 12., A. Anbalagan, AIADMK member caused flutter in the Assembly during zero hour today when he placed on the table of the House a heap of raffle tickets to bring to the notice of the government that despite the ban on sale of the raffle tickets, selling of such tickets was going on with full impunity in and around the town limits. He said police should keep vigil constantly to prevent the sale of the tickets. The instant lottery and several types of tickets sold here had come to cause concern to the poor families. A number of wage earners had been reduced to penury. The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy said police were keeping a constant vigil. Seven persons were arrested last year, as soon as information of sale of the tickets was available.
