Naxalite dies in police station

KARIMNAGAR,
APRIL 12.
A militant of the CPI (Maoist) naxalite group reportedly died in police custody in the interior Kataram police station on Monday night.
The Godavarikhani ASP, Ch Srikanth, said that the police had arrested Itikyala Sampath (28) of Damerakunta village in Kataram mandal and recovered two landmines from his possession. He was also involved in a sand lorry burning case. After his arrest, he was bought to the police station and was supposed to be produced before the magistrate.
At the police station the victim complained of breathing problem and the police immediately shifted him to Godavarikhani area hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. The police said that the militant had been associated with the Maoist naxalites since 2003.
