MYSORE, APRI1 12. C.D. Narasimhaiah, a doyen among English scholars and the man who popularised Indian writing in English, died in the early hours of Tuesday in Bangalore. He was 84. He is survived by his son C.N. Srinath and daughter Ragini Ramachandra. Prof. CDN, as he was known to his students and admirers, was in Bangalore to renew his passport to attend a conference in Sri Lanka. Family sources said he was healthy and died in his sleep at the residence of his daughter. His body was cremated this evening at Dhvanyaloka premises. Dhvanyaloka is a centre for literary activities started by Prof. Narasimhaiah.
