Bhuvaneswar in semifinals

COIMBATORE, APRIL 12. Bhuvaneswar of Chennai Port Sports Institute played cautiously to oust city-mate Bharani of Pot Shot 41-55, 65-53, 54-14 in the quarterfinal of the second open non-ranking snooker tournament organised by the Champions Billiards Academy at the R.S. Puram CBA Hall here on Tuesday.

It was an even situation in the first frame. But, Bharani potted the pink and black to take the game. In the second, Bhuvaneswar managed to grab a 23-point lead on colour balls. With 25 points on the table, Bharani knew the game was still not over. He came up comfortably clearing till pink, however failed to pot the crucial black. Bhuvaneswar clung on to the chance and with much difficulty managed to cut the black for the game.

In the deciding frame, the winner maintained the lead right through to take the match with some fine safety shots.

In another quarterfinal, Sanjeev Singhi of CBA continued to dominate scoring a comfortable 68-37, 55-22 win over Magesh of Pot Shot (Chennai).
