BANGALORE, APRIL 12. Mounts Club romped into the quarterfinals of the girls State sub junior basketball championship with a 34-26 win over Young Orions SC at the Sree Kanteerava stadium outdoor courts here this evening. The winner was well served by Irawati Guha who accounted for 12 points out of the 13 that Mounts earned in the second quarter to lead 19-16 at half-time and again made her presence felt in the last quarter scoring four more points to tally 16 points for the match. Young Orions did match Mounts in the first two quarters trailing 5-6 and 11-13 even took a slender lead (4-3) in the third but was outplayed in the last 10 minutes of play managing just six points to Mounts 12. Nayana played well for the loser and even managed 10 points in the teams score. In another girls match, Jayanagar SC toyed with Ambedkar SC winning 26-7 to make the pre-quarterfinal. The results: Boys: Rangers (Mysore) 28 bt Rajmahal 11 (Ht: 14-10); Devanga Union 27 bt Creative (Chitradurga) 15 (Ht: 17-6); Vijayanagar (Hospet) 30 bt PPC 9 (Ht: 10-5). Girls: Pre-quarter final:Mounts Club 34 (Irawati Guha 16) bt Young Orions SC 26 (Nayana 10)(Ht: 19-16). Second round: Jayanagar SC 26 (Anusha 14) bt Ambedkar SC 7 (Ht: 12-4). Our sports Reporter
