Hubli division observes `Railway Week'

HUBLI, APRIL 12. Trilok Nath Perti, General Manager of South Western Railway, has called upon railway employees to help achieve the target of moving 700 million tonnes set for Indian Railways this year.

Speaking at the "Railway Week" celebration organised under the auspices of the Hubli division here on Monday, Mr. Perti said that it was gigantic task and efforts had to be made to reach the target.

He commended the Hubli division as the backbone of earnings of the entire zone. The railways was facing competition from the road ways and air ways and it was imperative that the high expectations of the customers are met.

K.D. Mainrai, Divisional Railway Manager, said that the freight loading in the Hubli Division had touched the 26.856 million tonne mark and earnings had crossed Rs. 1,090 crores, which was the highest for the division till date.

The efficiency index of the division had been pegged at 18.48 per cent as against the target of 28.04 per cent, he said.

Mr. Perti and the chief personnel officer, Arun Bhagra, gave away awards to 287 employees, including one officer.

A.V. Sivaprasad, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, welcomed the gathering. L.V.S. Satyanarayana Patrudu, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, proposed a vote of thanks.
