BELGAUM, APRIL 12. The district recorded 87.42 per cent success in the first day of pulse polio immunisation programme. The pulse polio immunisation programme was launched in the district on Sunday. According to official sources, polio drops were administered to 5,04,289 lakh children all over the district on Tuesday. While 1,10,500 children were immunised in the urban centres, the drops were administered to the rest in the rural centres. According to official sources, a target of 5,76,816 lakh has been fixed for the 36-day immunisation programme. Of this, 1,29,522 children are living in urban areas, while 4,47,294 are in the rural areas, sources added.
