ALLAHABAD, APRIL 12. The Uttar Pradesh Bar Council today opposed strike in courts except in those cases where the dignity and honour of the court was at stake. Newly elected chairman and vice chairman of the council Mahendra Kumar Singh and Vivek Mishra said in case a Bar Association resorted to strike for more than a day it should seek permission of the State Bar Council. "We stood for most cordial relations between the bench and bar based on mutual reverence and hoped that members of the bar would protect the three cordial principles laid down in the Advocates Act pertaining to united bar, independent bar and autonomous bar,'' Mr Singh said. -- UNI
