NEW DELHI, APRIL 12. The Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, today held a high-level meeting to review the arrangements for the One-Day International to be played between India and Pakistan at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium here on April 17. The one-hour meeting was attended by the Home Secretary, V.K. Duggal; the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, T.K.A.Nair; the Intelligence Bureau director, E.S.L. Narasimhan; the National Security Advisor, M.K. Narayanan; the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit; the Delhi Lieutenant-Governor, B.L. Joshi; besides Arun Jaitley and Chetan Chauhan of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). The meeting discussed the arrangements for the match which would be witnessed by the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, and the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. Meanwhile, the Delhi police said elaborate arrangements have been made for parking and traffic regulation, apart from crowd control and safety of those visiting the stadium. The police have advised the spectators to reach the stadium by 7-30 a.m. so that they can be seated by 8 a.m. They have been asked not to bring cell phones, handbags, cameras, binoculars, transistors and other such devices inside the stadium. Parking near the stadium would not be allowed. Hence, the traffic police have made parking arrangements at the IGI Stadium, Ramlila Ground and Asaf Ali Road, Mata Sundari and Kotla Road and Bhairon Road (opposite Gate No. 2 of Pragati Maidan). The DDCA has made available shuttle-vehicles for "park and ride" facility for the spectators. On April 17, no vehicles would be allowed to be stationed along Bahadurshah Zafar Road and Jawaharlal Nehru Marg. Though the police have not received any inputs on possible terrorist threats during the match, they are carrying out combing operations as a preventive measure. The local police, especially in Central Delhi, are checking the antecedents of those living in guesthouses and hotels in their area.
