KOTTAYAM, APRIL 12. The Thodupuzha First Class Judicial Magistrate, S. Santhosh Kumar, today sentenced the leader of Kerala Congress (Secular), P.C. George, MLA, to three months' imprisonment in a defamation case.

The judgement was pronounced in a case filed by M.M. Mathew, Kerala Congress (M) leader, who is also a close relative of the Revenue Minister, K.M. Mani.

According to Mr. Mathew, Mr. George at a press conference on May 8, 2002, had raised allegations against him while referring to the massive encroachment of prime land in Munnar and adjoining areas.

At a press conference today, Mr. George said he would go in appeal against the verdict.
