P.C. George sentenced in defamation case

KOTTAYAM,
APRIL 12.
The Thodupuzha First Class Judicial Magistrate, S. Santhosh Kumar, today sentenced the leader of Kerala Congress (Secular), P.C. George, MLA, to three months' imprisonment in a defamation case.
The judgement was pronounced in a case filed by M.M. Mathew, Kerala Congress (M) leader, who is also a close relative of the Revenue Minister, K.M. Mani.
According to Mr. Mathew, Mr. George at a press conference on May 8, 2002, had raised allegations against him while referring to the massive encroachment of prime land in Munnar and adjoining areas.
At a press conference today, Mr. George said he would go in appeal against the verdict.
