`Drinking water, power to get priority'

MADANAPALLE, APRIL 12. The Government Chief Whip, N.Kiran Kumar Reddy, said the Praja Patham was launched to address the problems faced by people. Mr Reddy was speaking at gram sabha meetings at Diguva Budidavedu, Madhavapuram, T.Sakirevupalle, Nagari Madugu and Valimikipuram yesterday.

The Chief Whip promised people that drinking water shortage, drought conditions and the power problem would be tackled on a priority. Mr Reddy said within 10 months of assuming power, the new Government had sanctioned 1,200 houses and by the end of the month 500 more would be sanctioned and pucca houses constructed.

Mr Reddy told presspersons at Sakirevupalle that in the district for 161 drinking water schemes, an initial amount of Rs 5.44 crores has been sanctioned. The Government has sanctioned Rs 59 lakhs towards the welfare of the people from the district in addition to the Rs 1 crore under the quota of the district Minister, Mr Reddy said.
