ANANTAPUR, APRIL 12. The State Committee meeting of the Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) has decided to take up an awareness campaign against foreign-branded soft drinks from May 1 to 7. Science and cultural camps will also be organised for children during summer. The State president of the JVV, M. Geyanand, stated here on Tuesday that hundreds of members had participated in the science movement in the State during the last two years.
Training classes
Of them, a chosen lot would be trained at eight places as activists of the JVV. The training classes would be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays in May at Ramachandrapuram (West Godavari), Kodada (Nalgonda), Gooty (Anantapur), Hyderabad, Vizianagaram, Tirupati, Warangal and Guntur. The decisive role of science in the history, the conflict of science with faith, 18 principles which guiding the nature, evolution of universe and life would be explained in the training classes. As part of the training camps the JVV would also take up an awareness campaign against superstitions. Explaining the health hazards of consuming foreign-branded soft drinks would be taken up in all district headquarters in May first week. Unlawful activities taking place with the help of beliefs of the people would be taken to the notice of the Government for necessary action, Dr. Geyanand said. The decisions were taken at the State Committee meeting held at Khammam on April 10 and 11.
