CHENNAI, APRIL 12. The Central Crime Branch today arrested a four-member gang, allegedlymaking fake visas and medical certificates. Police identified the arrested as N. Habib Mohammed (42) of Moulivakkam, M. Kesava Moorthy (35) of Thirumullaivoyal, Raji (32) of Anakaputhur and A. Parthiban (25) of Kodambakkam. Habib Mohammed and Kesava Moorthy were agents for licensed agencies that send people to work in Malaysia while Raji was a sub-agent. Parthiban helped them to make holograms for the `fake medical certificates,' police claimed People seeking employment in Malaysia have to go for a check-up to one of the four hospitals in the city authorised by the Malaysian Government. The visa is issued only after obtaining the medical certificate. Police said that Habib Mohammed was an expert in making fake visas and Kesava Moorthy an expert in making fake holograms resembling those issued by the hospitals. The arrest was made following a complaint from T. Madhiyazhagan of Madhavaram, who had paid them Rs. 65,000 but did not secure a job overseas as assured. The police seized 144 passports, 80 sheets, each containing six holograms, four duplicate visas, three original visas, nine rubber stamps, a Zippo Lighta Gas (used by the gang for peeling the original details from the first page of a passport), a computer, a scanner and a printer.
