MADURAI, APRIL 12. The Corporation Commissioner, D.J. Dinakkaren, today disposed of 30 out of the 55 petitions on the spot at a public grievance redressal meeting held here. While participating in the meeting, the Mayor, C. Ramachandran, forwarded the petitions received from the people from the east zone to the Commissioner, who, in turn, went through them and cleared 30 of them. When the residents of Anupanadi Road, Pagalavan Nagar, Teppakulam, New Ramanathapuram Street complained about street light problems, he asked the officials to replace 30 sodium vapour lamps with tubelights as a temporary measure to dispel darkness in the area during night hours. Besides, fans in the Corporation community hall in Ward 45 and the Corporation Bharathidasan High School were repaired immediately. Other measures were to supply water through tankers as a makeshift arrangement till the deep borewell in a public toilet was set right in Kamarajar Salai and removal of garbage from Thavittu Santhai. Besides, five petitions pertaining to transfer of name in property tax, seeking reduction in underground drainage deposit money were also disposed of. The Deputy Mayor, D. Chinnasamy, several councillors and senior officials were present.
