Girl slips into sump, dies

A three-year-old girl, Swathi, died after she accidentally slipped into a sump at Rangareddyguda village in Rajendranagar police station area on Tuesday. The girl's parents were working in a poultry farm. Swathi's mother, Laxmamma, found the body a couple of hours later, the police said.

Cash stolen

Unidentified persons took away Rs. 86,000 from a private firm office located at Panjagutta. An accountant of Global Travels, M. Ravi Shankar, 28, kept the amount in his table drawer on April 8. He opened the drawer on Monday and found the money stolen even as the lock was intact, the Panjagutta police said.

Shoes stolen from showroom

Thieves broke into the Reebok showroom at Nagarjuna Circle in Panjagutta and took away 77 pairs of shoes and some other articles after entering the shop by breaking the window sidewall of the shop.

The shop in-charge M. Raju, lodged a complaint with the police on Monday.

Flees with cash

A private college principal lost Rs. 10 lakhs when the driver of the autorickshaw in which he was travelling fled with the cash bag at Panjagutta on Tuesday. K. Venkateswar Rao, of Vijayawada, came to the city this morning along with his friend, Uma Maheswara Rao.

They enaged an autorickshaw to Panjagutta.

Even as the duo were competing with one another to pay the fare, the autorickshaw driver sped away along with the cash bag, the Panjagutta police said.
