Children's park

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 12. A children's park will be set up in the compound of the public library here, the Minister for Education, E.T. Mohammed Basheer, said here today.

He was inaugurating the holiday camp `Summer School-2005' organised by the library here today. A dolls' museum for children was also proposed to be set up. The video facilities in the library would be expanded.

Children should not feel that the summer school was like regular school, Mr. Basheer said. There would be plenty of opportunities to laugh at the school. The summer school would give knowledge mixed with entertainment in capsule form.

As many as 500 children are participating in the camp, which will end on May 11.

Seized

The Peroorkada Police have seized nearly 150 pirated VCDs of the latest Malayalam and Tamil films, including Udayananu Tharam, Achuvinte Amma, Vasool Raja and Alaudeen from a lending library at Peroorkada this evening. The shopkeeper Biju, 30, of Karakulam was arrested in this connection, the police said.
