NEW DELHI, APRIL 12. Four persons have been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly committing a robbery in a cellular phone shop at Khajuri Khas in North-East Delhi on April 8. One of the accused turned out to be the cousin of the victim. According to the police, Himanshu, owner of a mobile phone shop, called up the police around 1 p.m. saying that three persons have robbed him of Rs. 50,000 in cash, recharge coupons worth several hundreds and three new cellular phones at knifepoint. A case was registered and following investigations the police arrested Mohammad Islam, Rahul, Praveen and Mohammad Atiq. At their instance, the police have recovered Rs. 8,500 in cash, one mobile phone and some recharge coupons. During interrogation, the accused told the police that it was Praveen, Himanshu's cousin who owned a toyshop, who had hatched the conspiracy. Praveen told the police that he realised that Himanshu was in possession of huge amount of cash and that they could lay their hands on it. Praveen took his other three associates in confidence and executed the plan. Rahul, Atiq and Islam went to Himanshu's shop and posed as customers interested in buying new covers for their cellular phones. Himanshu went into an inner room to get the covers when the trio followed him inside and forced him to part with the key to the cash chest at knifepoint. They managed to lay their hands on huge amount of cash and escaped. Praveen did not appear on the scene. Further investigations in the case are on.
