Mainly clear sky forecast

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, APRIL 12.APRIL 12.AP Marginally hot and dry weather conditions are expected to prevail in the Capital on Wednesday with the weatherman forecasting a mainly clear sky which may turn partly cloudy towards the afternoon or evening. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and the minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Tuesday were 33.4 degrees Celsius and 17.2 degrees Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 33.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14.2 degrees Celsius.

While the maximum and the minimum relative humidity at Safdarjung was 35 per cent and 7 per cent respectively, Palam recorded maximum humidity of 47 per cent and a minimum of 12 per cent.

Tihar inmates arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, APRIL 12.APRIL 12.AP Three Tihar Jail inmates were arrested on charges of beating up another inmate in the jail van today. In another case, some inmates sustained minor injuries in a fight over a trivial issue in the Tis Hazari court lock-up.

According to the police, Rajiv, Raju and Feroze allegedly beat up Mansoor inside the jail van over occupying a seat while they were being transported back to jail after an appearance in the court. Mansoor sustained minor injuries in the incident.

In the other incident, some inmates lodged in the lock-up fought among themselves after one of them allegedly stepped on the food packet of another. In the scuffle some inmates sustained minor injuries. The situation was brought under control by security personnel deployed inside the court premises.

Held for alleged forgery

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, APRIL 12.APRIL 12.AP A top Navy officer, who retired recently, has been booked for allegedly forging documents to wrongfully claim medical benefits available to defence personnel and their families for his father-in-law who is not entitled to it.

The retired officer has been accused of tampering with the card issued to his father for the benefit of his father-in-law under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme.

The accused allegedly removed the photograph of his father from the card after his death in 2003 and replaced it with that of his father-in-law so that the latter could claim the benefits.

Panel to probe boy's death

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI, APRIL 12.APRIL 12.AP Delhi Government has set up a three-member medical panel to probe the death of a seven-year-old boy in an MCD school.

Abhishek, a student of third standard, had died in his Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) primary school in Mangolpuri in north-west Delhi yesterday.
