BANGALORE, APRIL 12. Cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees were stolen from a realtor's house in Bharathi Nagar police station limits on Monday night. The police said the realtor, Tanvir Ahmed, had gone to attend a relative's wedding on Monday. When he returned on Tuesday morning, he found that 2.5 kg each of gold and silver ornaments and Rs. 75,000 in cash were stolen. The police said the burglars used a key to gain entry into the house.
Four persons robbed
Four persons, including two in one area, were waylaid and robbed of cash, three gold chains and two cellphones in incidents reported in the city in the early hours of Tuesday. Praseen Jit Matti, a call centre employee, was robbed of a gold chain worth Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 200 in cash on Cunningham Road in High Grounds police station limits. When he started speaking, they threatened him with knives and took from him the cash and the gold chain. Veeresh Adakihal, a fruit merchant, was robbed of a gold chain worth Rs. 5,000 and a cellphone near an Army officers' colony on Airport Road. The police said two persons stopped Adakihal and sought help in locating an address. When he was giving directions, the two persons threatened Adakihal and robbed him. The Ulsoor police have registered a case. Three persons waylaid Giriprasad, a call centre employee, and robbed him of Rs. 300 in cash and a gold chain near BEML factory in Tilak Nagar police station limits. Giriprasad was returning home from his office in Basavanagudi. A few hours later, three persons took away a cellphone and Rs. 100 in cash from K. Shrinivas at same spot. The police suspect the same gang was involved.
