CHENNAI: : St. Peter's Church at Royapuram will witness a rare wedding ceremony on April 24. Thirty pairs of Catholics will walk down the aisle with veils, bouquets and all at a wedding to be presided over by 30 priests led by Lawrence Pius, the Bishop of Madras Mylapore. Organised by the Royapuram Catholic Christian Welfare Movement, the couples will be given clothes, vessels and a gold `thali.' E. Earnestpaul, the Parish Chairman said that this was the first time in Chennai that such a large group of couples will enter into matrimony at the same time. A letter from the Vatican from the late Pope John Paul II, dated March 5, signed by Monsignor Gabriele Caccia, Assessor, said, "The Holy Father invokes the joy and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ upon those who will be united in the Sacrament of Matrimony at Saint Peter's Church in Chennai. With prayers for their Christian married life His Holiness cordially imparts his Apostolic Blessing, which he willingly extends to their families and to all present at the ceremony."
