Now, C. Ashwath will enthral Bangaloreans

BANGALORE: Scorpion, Sting, Deep Purple, the sprawling Bangalore Palace Grounds has been the venue for many such mega western musical nights over the years. But for the first time the popular music composer and singer, C. Ashwath, and his troupe will sing the poems of Kannada poets under the "Kannadave Sathya" programme to be held there on April 23.

Nearly 20,000 people are expected to turn up at the "Kannada Kavyagayana Karyakrama," which is said to be the biggest such musical event to be organised in the State.

Well-known singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam will inaugurate the three-hour programme, sponsored by the Bangalore-based The Global Consultants. Cine artiste and MP, Ambarish, will release a souvenir. Veteran poet G.S. Shivarudrappa will preside over the programme.

Ashwath and his fellow singers will enthral the audience with 24 songs, including Basavanna's "Vachanas," Purandaradasa's "Padhagalu" and Sishunala Sharief's songs. Music and poetry lovers will also get a chance to enjoy the poems of Da. Ra. Bendre, Kuvempu, Pu.Thi.Na, Gopalakrishna Adiga, K.S. Narasimhaswamy, G.S. Shivarudrappa, Channaveera Kanavi, K.S. Nissar Ahmed, N.S. Lakshminarayana Bhatta, Chandrashekara Kambara, Chandrashekara Patil, H.S. Venkatesh Murthy, B.R. Lakshmana Rao, Doddarange Gowda and M.N. Vyasa Rao.

Ashwath, Sangeetha Kulkarni, M.D. Pallavi, Mangala, Sunitha, Supriya Acharya, Ramya, Aparna, Yuvaraj, Janardhan (Janni), Kikkeri Krishna Murthy, Panchama Halibandi, Vinay Kumar, Raghavendra Rao, Sri Harsha, Rakesh and Uday will treat the audience with solo, duet and group songs.

Seating arrangements

According to the organisers, seating arrangements will be made for nearly 15,000 people in the open grounds.
